This is the cover to our April - June issue of our Police Training magazine, "The Training Wheel". The Feature article is about a Unit CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) They handle individuals that are emotionally or mentally disturbed. When creating this cover, I wanted to illustrate the idea of a mentally or emotionally disturbed person, without using a real photo of a person, such as; a vagrant, crazy person...you get the idea.

In my travels through DA, ...I saw this image that caught my attention, and after openning up the larger view, I thought..."Thats it." That's what I've been looking for. The artist is "Laory" and the image is:

What I saw were all these abstract colors and broken up brush strokes. To me, this truly illustrated the mind of a mental or emotionaly disturbed person. Their minds are cluttered with abstract thoughts, ideas, images, causing their perception of reality to be scewed.

Thank you Laory for permission to use your painting. It was perfect for this cover theme. She will be receiving a courtacy copy when printed.

All of us here in DA are usually more than willing to help, give permission for use of images...if asked. I'm reading too many entries and posts of people taking and using images without permission. Some are threatening to remove their works which would be ashame...for all of us. So, if you like something, and would like to use it to manipulate or "paint" (which I do most of the time) then just ask. OK enough of that.
